The Cook-off Winners

The winners of the Second Annual Bud's Venison Chili Cook-off and, added this year, the 'Anything Goes' Beans Cook-off are:

Dianne Gates of the Gates team, took 1st place Chili Division winner of the Remington 270 with Leopold 3x9x40 scope. Ira Garner took 2nd place in the Chili Division. He was awarded the the Howa 1500 30-06. Tammy Posey of Phoenix Cookers took 3rd place and was awarded the Remmington 870 with rifle barrel. The 1st grand prize winner in the Bean division, Frank Graham of the Croco-Dogs team was awarded the $200 cash prize.

The Lamar family and everyone here at Hot Wells Shooting Range would like to thank everybody who participated in this event. It's our patrons and their families who make these events memorable.

Bud's Annual Venison Chili Cookoff

2012 Rules and Regulations

For the purpose of this chili cook off, Chili is defined as ANY COMBINATION of ground, chopped, or cubed venison together with spices and seasonings along with tomatoes, onions, peppers, or any vegetable of your discretion and liquids such as broth, water, etc. The only meat allowed is venison. You may NOT use any filler in chili. Beans, macaroni, rice, hominy, or other similar ingredients are not permitted. No ingredient may be pre-cooked in any way prior to the commencement of the official cook-off. The only exceptions are canned or bottled tomatoes, tomato sauce, peppers, pepper sauce, beverages, broth, and grinding and / or mixing spices. Meat may be treated, pre cut, or ground. MEAT MAY NOT BE PRE-COOKED in any manner.

Bushmaster Varminter Rifle Raffle Winner

Stephen Bowden, Rifle Winner

A sizeable crowd gathered last night, (December 20) at 6:00 p.m., in the range house awaiting the name of the winner of the Bushmaster Varminter rifle.

A message was left on the cell phone of Stephen Bowden asking him to call Hot Wells Shooting Range. Imagine his surprise when he found out he won!

This Bushmaster retails for $1,374. It has a black/blue finish.
